STAR HomeworkAs a class we set a goal to get 190 Stars. And the results are in...we earned 234 Stars this week! Way to go, second graders! Since this is a short week, we set our goal at 170 Stars. The homework menu will be the same as last week. Next week we'll change things up a bit with a Grandparent Interview. For now, congratulations second graders! Grandparents UnitMr. Wright worked with the students early last week to identify things that were the same, similar, different and alike between two pictures or items. Their writing was awesome! We then compared a Nintendo (the original) controller to a PS4 controller. Did you know that the new controllers have 18 buttons, and the Nintendo controller has only 8? We then talked about what life was like when Mrs. Wright was in second grade. No NetFlix! Can you believe it!?!? All of these activities are building up to comparing and contrasting the past and present which will be one of the elements of their Grandparent report. Have fun talking to them about the past and how school, transportation, entertainment and other things were different. MathWe are working on some fundamentals of addition and subtraction with story problems. We have worked with a variety of strategies and tools. WritingPolishing up those writing skills for the Grandparent report. We will continue to work on developing a topic sentence, including details and a conclusion sentence. Coming soon...We'll be introducing a new online math program this week! We are very excited about sharing it with the kids! We'll also be adding spelling soon.
