Read Across America Details
This week is Read Across America Week! We have a reading competition that starts today. Have students log their minutes on the pink sheet in the homework packet. Saturday and Sunday reading counts too. Please turn in reading logs next Monday. Let's win this 2nd grade!
PLP Conferences and Goals
Please bring the goal setting sheet (in the homework packet) to your PLP Conference. We will do a goal setting activity in class Tuesday which will help students with ideas. If you need more ideas, please email me. I look forward to meeting with everyone.
Hundreds place starts tomorrow. Students will learn how to work with numbers up to 1,000.
Students are very into our current science unit. They have worked so far with properties of matter and measuring liquid volume. This will lead into chemical and physical change.
History Night Sucess!
Thanks to everyone who came out for History Night! It was a great time of celebrating learning with the students. They were very proud of their video. I am proud of them for making such great connections and struggling to understand the impact these heros have had on our society.
I am super excited to be starting our next science unit now that History Night is over. We are going to begin with some general studies on matter. As we gain a foundational understanding, we will move into experimentation. This week we begin by examining the properties of solids, liquids and gasses. We are looking especially forward to Mia's dad coming in with some fun science experiments! Thanks Ryan!
Math Facts Pro
The students began using mathfactspro.com in class today. I will begin to integrate this into homework over the comming weeks. Check it out at home and let me know how everything is working. This is a great way to get your child memorizing math facts.
The second trimester ends this week in 2nd grade. Mrs. Matz and I are busy assessing students to find current levels. I will include PLP times in the email this week. If your time doesn't work, please let me know. I look forward to meeting with each of you.
