Half Day Thursday, November 3, 2016 Thursday is Tye-dye or Neon day (free dress) and Friday is PJ day! PLP's November 3rd & 4thWe are looking forward to meeting with you and your second grader this week. If you haven't scheduled a PLP yet, please follow the link to the PLP sign up site or contact Steve or Jessica to make arrangements. signup.com/go/DJGoVt HomeworkLook for a special goal setting worksheet in your student's backpack today. This worksheet is designed for you and your student to talk and write about this next trimester's goals. We will discussing the goals at PLP's, so be sure to turn it in during the next two days or bring the worksheet to your PLP meeting. This will be the only assigned homework this week, however, reading is always a good idea. We will continue Star Homework and Spelling next week. Habitat ModelsThis is the week we begin making our zoo habitats! We have collected a few boxes/lids and are still in need of more. I know it's late notice, but we could use parent help in the class this week to help make the habitats if you are available. Here is our scheduled work times: Thursday 11-12; Friday 11-12. We could also use glue guns and glue sticks. Your student might need some leaves, rocks and other items found around the house. We will supply the paint if needed. We can't wait to see how our zoo turns out!

PLP'sJust a reminder to check your email for a link to sign up for your PLP. PLP's will be on Thursday and Friday, November 3 & 4. Thursday, November 3rd is a half day. We are looking forward to meeting with everyone! SpellingThe students have been doing so well with their first few weeks of spelling tests. There will be no spelling test this week due to a change in this week's homework (see details below). The following week will be a short week with Halloween, a day off and PLPs. We will start back up on November 7. Star HomeworkWe are changing things up this week. The homework this week is for the students to write a Halloween story (see homework folder for more information). Of course reading is always a good idea if time allows for it! Halloween PartyBe on the look out for an email/sign up for the Halloween party on Monday, October 31st. HabitatsWe have been having a blast talking about animal habitats and ecosystems. This week we will be pairing the students up to work together to reseach a biome, including plants, food, animals, weather and such. The students will be working together to design a specific area in our zoo for a set of particular animals to survive. The following week we will be working on our habitat models in the class. We would love any extra help and glue gun specialists that week to help create the models. Stay tuned for more infomation about days and times.
