ThankYou, Parents!

It was such a pleasure to meet with each of you and talk about your child's progress in 2nd grade.  I am thankful to partner with parents who are invested and dedicated to their child's education.  These kids are fortunate to have you as parents and I am grateful for your support!  I'm excited to see what this next semester holds!

This Week In 2nd Grade

No School on Friday, November 10th, Veteran's Day!

Math- We will continue to work through Chapter 3 this week.  The chapter will introduce the students to different strategies to add to 100.  Students may come home with unfinished work.  The work will provide extra practice and will earn them a STAR for Homework.  All work can be returned in HW folders on Friday.  

Science- We had so much fun talking about plants on Friday.  We will be observing our radish seeds this week and tracking their growth.

Reading/Writing-  We will continue to work on reading comprehension and finding evdience to questions about the text.  

Social Studies-  Food production and consumption will be further discussed and we will have activities to take us back to the "good 'ol days" on the farm.  This will tie in nicely with our conversations about the first Thanksgiving.  

Spelling-  Spelling lists will be sent home in HW folders this week.  We will take our test on Thursday since there is no school on Friday.  

Field Trip, Tuesday, 11/14

We will be taking a trip to A Maker's Space in Paradise for a creative, hands on activity.  Look for a permission slip in Monday/HW Folders.  There will be a $4 for cost for this field trip.  I am looking for a few parents to walk with us to Maker's Space.  If the weather is bad, I will be needed a few parents to drive.  Please indicate your availability on the permission slip.  Thank you!

STAR Homework

We have another short week this week.  I will be giving the spelling tests on Thursday since there is no school on Friday.  Some of the kids are having a hard time remembering to track their STARS and turn them in on Friday.  This is a very important part of our homework since we set a class goal.  If everyone does their part...we can meet our goal easily!
