This Week in 2nd GradeMath- We took some time to become familiar with the different coins and their values. If you have "real" money laying around, have your child play with it, count it, identify it...this will be helpful for them as we start adding and subtracting different amounts of money. Science- We will be starting our new unit on Landforms this week. The students will create a landform out of clay for our Science Friday activity! Reading/Writing- Goals were identified during PLPs and I would like to shake things up a bit in our reading and writing groups in order to help kids meet there goals. "Goal Groups" will give kids a chance to work on their goals of fluency, comprehension, vocabulary and challenging text. Social Studies- The landform science unit will compliment the geography unit we just studied in Social Studies. We will be referencing quite a few maps in the next few weeks. Spelling- The students will have a new spelling list in their folders today. They did great last week even though it was a short week! Test will be Friday morning. STAR HomeworkThey were so close to meeting their goal last week, even though it was a short week. Keep encouraging your child to read, practice coin counting, ST Math or other homework activities. Students who do not put their name on their HW sheet will not earn a ticket. Upcoming Events & Dates3/30-Potential Snow Day {No School}
