Tonight!I hope you can make it to History Night tonight, 6:30-7:30! In second grade we will be presenting our class movie "If Famous People Came to Achieve!" It's a 12 minute video that we will be replaying throughout the night. We will also have the student's Famous Person Scrapbooks on display. These kids did a great job pulling together research, constructing well written paragraphs and presenting a wonderful biography both on paper and in the video. Wait until you see their acting skills...they are amazing! I look forward to seeing you! Star HomeworkSince this is a short week and we have History night, I want to keep it simple. This week the students will get a star for every 10 minutes they read each night! 20 minutes will earn 2 stars...60 minutes will earn 6 stars! Maybe try reading a chapter book together this week. Any book will do...this weather is perfect for a nice cozy read with your second grader! Enjoy! This Week in 2nd Grade...The biography unit was so much fun! We will take this week to settle back into a routine and pick up where we left off with Read Live (fluency and comprehension program) and other regular activities. Math: We are working with place value models up to 1,000. This chapter is hands on and requires the use of ones, tens sticks and hundreds squares. Also, our class average for ST Math is 50%! The students will continue to work towards their next goal. Writing: Grammar, quick writes and frequently misspelled words. Science: We will have an activity this week and will be reinforcing claim and evidence. Reading: iready, Read Live & Lexia.
