Here's the Scoop...

Sometimes there isn't much to report and last week was one of those weeks.  We were excited to be back together after Thanksgiving break.  We had a productive week of math, writing and even a science experiment!  It's beginning to feel like Christmas in second grade with music, elves and snowflakes.  We have some fun activities in store for the next few weeks!

STAR HOmework

The homework packet hasn't change too much from the past few weeks.  This week we have included an adjective worksheet that compliments the writing assignment.  There is also a paragraph organizer and a page for the final copy of their paragraph.  As always, feel free to use some of it or all of it for the writing homework options.  We have also included an editing checklist with the homework packet for you to keep at home as a guide.  We are really pushing the students to go back and edit their writing.

Spreading Christmas Cheer

Achieve students will be performing on Thursday, December 15 at Paradise Alliance Church at 6 pm. We are also taking our show on the road to Atria on Wednesday, December 21 from 10:30-12:15. We are in need of drivers for this field trip.  Please let Jessica know if you can drive and how many students you can take.

Addition with Regrouping

This morning we started learning about addition with regrouping.  This is what we used to call 'carrying'.  Our working definition is when you can regroup 10 ones to make a ten stick.  Students will begin by modeling and then learn how to carry like we did.  Only, they won't call it carrying, so try to call it regrouping.
