It's Reindeer Week in 2nd Grade!

Elf week was super fun!  Our classroom elf challenged us to spead Christmas joy with a secret mission each day.  This class is so kind and thoughtful...it was sweet to see them so excited to recognize and bless different people around our school.  There will be more secret missions this week!  Also this week, we be centering our learning {and fun!} around reindeer!  I'm looking forward to reading informational texts, discovering facts and playing reindeer games!

Winter Performance on Thursday!

Achieve's annual Winter Performance will be this Thursday, December 14 at 7pm.  It will be held at Paradise Alliance (CMA) Church on Clark Road, the same location as last year's performance.   The 2nd graders will meet up front around 6:55 and sit together during the show.  

This Week in 2nd Grade

Math- Our class is getting close to our next chapter test.  They are doing a great job with double digit addition with regrouping.  I was so pleased to see how many students worked on their math practice sheets for homework.  This was a big advantage to some students.  There will not be no practice pages in this week's homework since we are finishing up the chapter.  

Science- Last week's hour of code was super engaging!  These kids loved working with Mr. V and ozobots!  We will continue to work on coding since we only scratched the surface.  

Reading/Writing-  We will be learning interesting facts about reindeer and  writing what we have learned.  This will be a taste of what's to come with our habitat unit in the early spring.

Social Studies-  Our random acts of kindness will allow us to talk about community and the importance of our role in our class, school and family.   We will continue to talk about consuming and producing as well.

Spelling-  Spelling lists will be sent home in HW folders this week.  Our test will be on Friday morning.

STAR Homework

The homework menu will be the same as last week's menu.    I will not be sending home Spelling Tic Tac Toe, but I will make it available if the kids want to pick one up and take it home.  And, as always, reading is the most important activity your student can do at home!  ​
