Happy Holidays to everyone!  I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  Only three busy weeks and then Christmas Break.  We have some big things to work on in second grade.  Students will become proficient at adding with Regrouping (carrying) in the next three weeks.  We also have a fun, but challenging writing project to celebrate Christmas and also work on writing with evidence to support our claims.  We will also continue working on our Government Unit.  Through in a another Field Trip performance a Christmas Party and it looks super busy, but of course fun and festive.

HOmework

No spelling for the next three weeks.  We will resume after the first of the year.  I have some fun projects and different things planned for the next few weeks.  This week is math fact boot camp!  Last year Mrs. Dressler did a fluency boot camp at the end of the year.  It looked like so much fun, I thought I'd copy her idea!  This week's homework is all about addition facts.  In fact the reading requirement is only 10 minutes per night this week.  Students should replace the reading time with either flashcards with a parent or Moby Max math facts practice.  There are also math fact worksheets in the packet.  Everything is due Friday.

Christmas Writing

This week students will be writing a Christmas wish list for a character from a book, movie or whatever.  They will then have to write with evidence from the book or movie to show why that character would be wishing for those things.  It should be a fun challenge.

Field Trip

I will send home permission slips tomorrow for next Monday.  We will only be gone for about an hour, maybe less.  We can walk, if its not raining.  I could use a few parents for crowd control, or to shuttle kids if it's raining.  Let me know if you plan to attend.
