You All Rock!Thank you all for coming out to Back To School Night. We had a great turn out. I know a couple weren't able to make it, no worries. I'll email the important info. If you have questions about anything, please email me. There is a lot of new info at the start of the year. Thanks for all of the parent help sign-ups. I look forward to having you all in class this week. Spelling HomeworkA couple of notes. Students need to choose 3 activities in a row for spelling homework. If you choose spellingcity.com, be sure to log in to access the list so you don't have to type the words in yourself. username is student's email (for example: [email protected]) password is last name 20015 (for example: Hendrix2015). Find the correct list and enjoy the games. Take as many practice tests as you would like. Have fun. This Week's GoalsMath - Addition and subtraction strategies. Time to start find some ways to add and subtract faster and also begin memorizing some math facts. Language Arts - Fluency practice. Students will start Lexia and ReadLive in class this week. In writing we will be reviewing the Step Up to Writing Paragraphs learned in 1st grade and start adding some variety with different topic sentences. Science - Continue to learn about plant adaptations. How can plants sense light? How do plants make energy out of sunlight? Understand that the sun gives the earth energy in the form of light and heat and that plants can transform that light into food. Field TripOur first field trip is scheduled for October 7th. We are going to the Gateway Science Museum with Third grade. Put it on your calendar. Or click my 2nd grade calendar if you use Google and add it to yours. We will probably go a park or something too.
