School For Real

We had a great first week in second grade.  We are getting back in the swing and ready to get to work!  This week we will take a series of assessments to find out exactly where each student is performing right now.  We will use this information to tailor an educational program for each student.  Ask me next week to find out how your student is performing right now.

Science/Plants

In our first science unit we will study plants, their adaptions and what they need to survive.  We are designing an experiment.  We have pea sprouts already.  Please send in a shoe box with your child tomorrow if you have one.  I have a few extras.  If you have a couple, send an extra in case someone doesn't have one.  

Back To School Night

Please plan to come out Thursday night.  Check out the school newsletter for times.  Lots of info you need will be presented in class and in the parent meeting.

Book Order

A book order went home today.  Check it out.  This is a great way to get cheap books for your kids.  Also, we get points that we use to buy books for the classroom.  Many parents choose to order on line.  Our class code is MHNCP.

Homework

I sent it home today.  The packet is due Friday.  No spelling this week.  Please get your child reading each night.  Reading logs will also start next week.  I'll give all the details at Back to School Night.
