Addition With RegroupingOur big goal for this week is to master addition with regrouping and take the test. Most students can add two digit numbers. They should also be able to talk about what they are doing, set up problems and tell whether or not they should regroup and why. Here are a couple of videos to help you out. Brain Pop Jr. has a good one too. Look under my quick links for Brain Pop Jr. and then find the math videos. Famous Person Project UpdateThe students were so excited to begin researching last week. We will spend this week researching as well. As the students find interesting information, they have to sort the facts into different categories such as Childhood Information, Education Information, Hard times and challenges or Why they are famous. Keep looking up info at home. The students are becoming experts!

Happy New Year!!!Happy New Year to everyone. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year! Thanks for the amazing Guitar Center Gift Card from the class. You all have blessed me so much. Box Top Party ThankyouA huge thanks to Mrs. Regnier and Mrs. McDonald for throwing us an awesome snow cone box top party! You guys are awesome! Thanks to everyone who sent in tons of box tops and helped our class win! Addition with RegroupingThink addition with Carrying. It's the same thing. This is a huge concept in 2nd grade. The students got off to a great start before Winter Break. We will start the New Year working hard to understand and practice addition with regrouping. If you are having issues at home, let me know. I can send some strategies to help. Famous Person ProjectStudents began researching today (many students also were busy learning over the break, nice job!). We will spend all of this week and most of next researching and learning about the students' famous people. As they research, they will sort the facts into different categories that will be used for a project/report next week. Students will be working hard to understand what their famous person did, why it was important and what else was happening at that time. Students learn a lot during this unit! We will finish our unit by making a video for History Night. We will film the video on February 9th and 10th. Students will dress as their famous person on one of these two days. More details to follow. Just start thinking about costumes. Let me know if you need help.
